She finds herself wondering about the babies
Rosebud mouth, perfect tiny fingers
Nappies on the line, everything fine

Sometimes she wonders, where did the children go?
She finds herself wondering about the children
Off to school first day wide eyed
Last day teenage-wise and a little wild

All the house is silent no sound of breathing
No footsteps creaking on the floor/stair
(Just the) old clock steadily ticking

Sometimes she wonders, where did her dream man go?
She catches herself remembering about the dream go
Flew her to the moon exploding through the clouds
Escaped the atmosphere then headed for the sun

Sometimes she wonders, where did the time go?
Looking back down the years …
Picture on the wall, china on the shelf
Letters in the drawer, tied up in ribbons of blue

Just when she thinks she’s got life comfy she finds the armchair empty
So many words unspoken (and) books unread
And the old clock steadily ticking
